Riyad as-Salihin 1467

Seeking goodness in both lives

اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Allahumma atina fid-dunya hasanatan, wa fil-akhirati hasanatan, wa qina 'adhab an-nar.

O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Forgiveness

Master supplication for forgiveness

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'udhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u laka bini'matika 'alayya, wa abu'u laka bidhanbi, faghfir li, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta.

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I hold to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Repentance

Quran 7:23

The dua of Adam and Hawwa

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbana zalamna anfusana, wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin.

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.

Reference: Surah Al-A'raf 7:23, the supplication recited by Adam and his wife after eating from the forbidden tree.

Worry and debt

Sahih al-Bukhari 6369

Relief from anxiety and burden

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-bukhli wal-jubn, wa dala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debt, and being overpowered by people.

Guidance

Sahih Muslim 2721

Guidance, piety, restraint, and sufficiency

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى

Allahumma inni as'alukal-huda wat-tuqa wal-'afafa wal-ghina.

O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and sufficiency.

Morning

Sunan Ibn Majah 925

Beneficial knowledge and accepted deeds

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and deeds that are accepted.

Worship

Sunan Abi Dawud 1522

Help in remembrance and gratitude

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ، وَشُكْرِكَ، وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibadatik.

O Allah, help me to remember You, thank You, and worship You beautifully.

Prayer

Sahih Muslim 588

Protection at the end of prayer

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi jahannam, wa min 'adhabil-qabr, wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnatil-masihid-dajjal.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, the punishment of the grave, the trials of life and death, and the evil trial of the false messiah.

The best manners and conduct

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي لِأَحْسَنِ الْأَخْلَاقِ، لَا يَهْدِي لِأَحْسَنِهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ، وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّي سَيِّئَهَا، لَا يَصْرِفُ عَنِّي سَيِّئَهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Allahumma ihdini li-ahsanil-akhlaq, la yahdi li-ahsaniha illa anta, wasrif 'anni sayyi'aha, la yasrifu 'anni sayyi'aha illa anta.

O Allah, guide me to the best character, for none guides to its best except You, and turn bad character away from me, for none turns it away except You.

Wellbeing

Sunan Abi Dawud 5074

Wellbeing in this life and the next

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah.

O Allah, I ask You for wellbeing in this world and in the Hereafter.

Sleep

Sahih al-Bukhari 6324

Before sleeping

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya.

In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

Waking

Sahih al-Bukhari 6312

After waking up

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا، وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana, wa ilayhin-nushur.

All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.

Light

Sahih Muslim 763

Asking for light

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا، وَفِي لِسَانِي نُورًا، وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا، وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا

Allahumma aj'al fi qalbi nuran, wa fi lisani nuran, wa fi sam'i nuran, wa fi basari nuran.

O Allah, place light in my heart, light on my tongue, light in my hearing, and light in my sight.
